Gower Retreats Accommodation
About
Dog friendly accommodation on the Gower Peninsula, near Swansea Gower Retreats is a countryside retreat at Oldwalls, near Llanrhidian, in the heart of the Gower Peninsula. It sits around 25 minutes from Swansea and a short drive from Rhossili Bay, Three Cliffs Bay and the Gower coast path. Dogs are welcome in most of our accommodation. There are several different types of stay on site, so a couple, a family, a walking group and a large party celebrating together can all be booked into the right space. Guests also have a wellness spa and a Spanish tapas restaurant on site, so a weekend here doesn't need a car once you've parked. Ways to stay Self-catering cottages. Our cottages are self-contained, with your own front door and your own kitchen. Ivy Cottage and Oaktree Cottage each have a private garden with a hot tub. Cottages suit families, groups of friends and anyone who would rather cook at their own pace than work around a dining room. Suites. The Willow suite and the Rose suite are our named suites, for guests who want more space than a standard room. Deluxe and superior rooms. Boutique rooms for couples and shorter stays. The restaurant and the spa are both a short walk across the site. The farmhouse. A larger property on site, suited to bigger groups staying together under one roof. Glamping pods. A village of glamping pods for a stay closer to the outdoors, with a proper bed and a solid roof. Every pod has its own en-suite, so there's no shared shower block and no night-time walk across a field. The glamping village also has a communal kitchen for guests to cook and eat in. Good for warmer months, walkers, and anyone who wants the Gower air without a tent. Bringing your dog Dogs are welcome in most of our accommodation at £35 per dog. Dogs are not permitted in the Willow suite, the Rose suite, or upstairs in the farmhouse. Dogs are also welcome inside Olive Wine Bar & Tapas, so you can eat on site without leaving them behind. Gower is good dog country — the coast path, the salt marsh at Llanrhidian and the beaches a short drive away make it an easy place to bring a dog for a few days. Secret Garden Spa Secret Garden Spa is our wellness spa, set beside the lake on site. A 90-minute session costs £30 per person and includes a glass of prosecco on arrival. The spa is a thermal circuit, designed to be moved through in rounds — heat, cold, then rest: - Hot tub - Hot stone sauna - Steam room - Cold plunge pool - Pull-down ice bucket - Covered seating dome Guests can order drinks during their session and a member of the team will bring them out to the spa. There are no treatment rooms, so this is a thermal spa rather than a massage or facial spa. The spa is open to overnight guests and to visitors, and sessions must be booked in advance. Olive Wine Bar & Tapas Olive Wine Bar & Tapas is our on-site restaurant and wine bar. It serves authentic Spanish tapas made with fresh local Welsh produce, alongside a full wine list, cocktails and draught beer. Dogs are welcome. Booking a table is recommended, particularly at weekends. Breakfast is available at Olive Cafe 7 days a week served from 9am-12pm. Where you'll be The Gower Peninsula was the UK's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Within a short drive of Gower Retreats you'll find Rhossili Bay and Worm's Head at the western tip, Three Cliffs Bay, Oxwich Bay, Port Eynon, Llanmadoc, and Weobley Castle looking out over the Llanrhidian marshes. The Gower coast path runs the length of the peninsula, taking in limestone cliffs, wide beaches, salt marsh, ancient woodland and working farmland. Surfing, sea swimming, coasteering, horse riding and walking are all available nearby. Swansea city centre and the M4 are close enough for a straightforward arrival, far enough that the site stays quiet.
